Every year, VHDA associates embrace a variety of volunteer opportunities and charitable efforts across the state. Our recent volunteer activities have included:
- The year 2006 marked the tenth year that VHDA associates participated in the Angel Tree program by purchasing Christmas presents for needy children. VHDA’s Volunteer Council worked with three local nonprofits to sponsor 117 children located in Eastville on the Eastern Shore, Chatham in Pittsylvania County and Jonesville in Southwest Virginia.
- VHDA associates raised approximately $81,000 for the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) in 2006. Associates donated money and also participated in a mini-golf tournament and the annual VHDA Holiday Bazaar to raise funds for the CVC.
- On October 30, 2006, and November 27, 2006, eight VHDA staff members went to the ElderHomes warehouse to build ramp segments that were subsequently assembled and installed in the homes of needy disabled seniors in the Richmond area.
